stroke length question froma newbie...
 

hey guys,

been lurking here for a while now. my name is bj and i'm from hawaii and got hooked on installing an up right type 4 in my 64 bug so i'm new to all of this.

i have a bunch of engines to use for my build up but wanted to ask some basic questions, please bear with me.

1. given a 78mm crank (or any stroke for that matter) and two rods of EQUAL length, one with chevy journals and one with VW journals (as an example), will the initial deck height measurement be the same with out shims?

2. if two rods differ by 1 mm in length, will the deck measurements differ by 1 mm?

the reason i ask is that i know that if a stroke differs by 4 mm (for example 78mm and 74mm), height at TDC and BDC is suppose to only differ by 2mm.

hope these aren't dumb questions and that i've asked the clearly, but it just basic engine building stuff i've been wondering about.
