OK guys, maybe I should add a few pics of my build....
It is taking me a lot longer than planned purely because I work in Europe and the car stands in South Africa. I only get to work on it a few weeks per year. MY main thread (its a bit of a social thread) can be found at http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewt...hp?f=23&t=4515 Here are a few pics for the meantime.... http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...3.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...4.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...5.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...7.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...8.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...9.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...0.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...1.jpg~original http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...2.jpg~original |
and a video of it starting up for the first time after the breakin period....
I have not driven it yet because I didnt have brakes and ran out of time before needing to come back to work http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...F.jpg~original |
A lot of those parts looks really familiar... :D My motor shares a lot of the same pieces by the look of it, what are the specs? It definitely sounds mean, too bad you didn't get a chance to drive it.

84x94, 9.9:1 CR, Web 86B, 44x38 valves, 044s, 48IDFs, 1.05mm deckheight, ceramic coated pistons and combustion chambers, thermal dispersant on barrels and heads, 13lb flywheel, low angle helical cam gear. A few more bells and whistle too.
I was origianlly going to build it with 5.325" rods, but wasnt happy with the clearance between the rod cap and the piston, so went for 5.5" rods. |
