CSP sway-bar mounting
Hi,
I`m having trouble installing these on my balljoint type car. The large clamps are OK, but the small ones seem to be a bit too short. Anyone else that have experiences with these, and same issue? regards Jorgen |
I have installed them on an early car. I do remember that the first set we tried were for a late bug and we had to get the right set.

These are definitely the correct set.
The problem, which I have been discussing with CSP, is that it seems that the later balljoint torsion arms have much wider tolerances on the forging, giving different diameter were the clamps attach. The earlier style are more consistent in their view. So, therefore I`m wondering if more than me have had the same problems, and if anyone have some measurement on the torsion arms. I`m a long way from my car so cant make them myself. |
You could draw it down with a hose clamp or safety wire until the bolts/nuts will start, then smoke it down.
|
I`will try to make them fit on my arms, guess a wise-grip and some elbow-grease should make it possible. Hoped to have less pbolems with these parts, but it does not always work out that way I guess.

a longer bolt in each to draw them down will help too.

Yes, the small ones are single-bolt, but I`ll user a longer one first to fit it, then change for a more correct length.
Thank you for the tips, the car is a little soft at the moment. Not Germanlook, but I really love the focus on technique that it provides. http://blogsimages.skynet.be/images_...6b3915933b.jpg |
channel-locks work good for those band clamps
