Hinge for CF decklid
Got a CF decklid from Remmele quite some time back, but no hinge to fit to body, what do you guys do? I have a cut out metal decklid frame from from a donor decklid, thought of grafting it to the CF decklid. Any other suggestions?

Hi
Does the new deck lid have provision for a hinge as in the stock looking frame? I recently fitted hinges to a deck lid for my new car, luckily I bought new hinges years ago from a VW dealer, but you can use old hinges, they just need a bit of work to clean them up is all. Steve |
No hinge at all, just the decklid without the frame. May just use a quick release to remove decklid but I'm after the normal way of opening the lid.

I bought a glasfiber rear decklid secondhand. It allready had the inner frame from a normal metal decklid glassed in:

The spring is to strong for the lighter rear decklid. I hammered out the hinge pins, and replaced them with the hinge pins of a normal house door hinge. These were just a little bit smaller in diameter, so they would slide in quite nicely. http://www.gerrelt.nl/polyester/acht..._scharnier.jpg Now I can remove the rear decklid in seconds, and replace it without having to adjust the decklid again. Hi
Beetle dipsticks make good pins for the hinges. Steve |
I'm after what Gerralt has done but thought of cutting off from the outter part of the metal frame, just using the frame from the hinge area to other hinge area. I got the pins from CSP.
