Upgraded brakes on early beetle (early 60's)

Ok, I'm planning on putting a 2270 T4 in an early beetle.

I realize I'm going to need a brake upgrade.

I've been doing some reading here on GL, and see that most go to the 944 brakes, but I think that's because it's basically a bolt on for the late model (super) beetles, right?

What kinds of options do I have for an early 60's beetle? I just want to get something that would work nicely, I don't need 996 brakes or anything.

Any advice would be welcome! :)

EDIT: This is going to be a semi-daily driver.

Hi go to www.ricola.co.uk and click on 'my car' then click on 'speedster' then on to brakes it has all the info you need to mount 944 n/a disc's and calipers to your standard, the engineering drawings are there for all the parts you need to have machined and they can be printed of as well. good luck.;)

Check out Richard's and Michael Ghia's website www.performanceghia.com for brake conversions.
You can also check the Tech Article section here on the main page of GermanLook for my brake upgrade article. It has all the measurements and drawings to adapt 944 NA brakes to the front. The rear is a near bolt on if you have IRS. If not get a CB rear disk brake with e-brake.
You can also get Kerscher fronts or even the CB front bake kit. Those are bolt ons. Kerscher now sells their kit with Porsche Boxster calipers. The Kerscher kit has vented disks....it is the only Beetle brake kit with vented disks unless you adapt Porsche parts.

Cool! Thanks for the info. Looks to be a bit more involved than I had hoped, but at least others out there have done it, so I know I'll be able to find help.
