Porsche Fan - oil cooler

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With my new engine, I am going to be running a Porsche Fan with a dry sump setup. The dry sump will be used with CBs oil pump, which allows you to run the system without tapping into the case (bolt on if you want).

Just one question about the oil cooler - where to mount it in the oil lines.
1) just boefore the sump - keeping the sump temp regulated
2) in place of the stock oil cooler (which is removed anyway) - used with the take-off adaptor plate

?????????

This is a T1 engine BTW

I would run it after the filter (it's easier to get hot oil clean), and before the tank. You want the oil supplied to the engine to be 180-200 deg F or so and clean.

With this oil pump, I would run the oil filter on the scavengeline (oil tank return).

The question still remains, cool the oil in the engine or cool the oil in the sump??

I run mine on the return line, before it hits the oil filter and oil tank, my oil temps are nailed at 90 deg cel, I would make sure you run an oil thermostat.
