Changing lug pattern on wheels

I'm building my dream bug , kind of a mix of Cal & German looks. I have decieded to run 944T brakes all the way around, I also want to run the 17" BRM's which is where my problem is, these wheels have a 5/100 bolt pattern and the brakes are 5/130. I don't want to run adapters so I contacted a wheel repair company that can change the lug pattern by welding the old ones and redrilling in the new Porsche pattern. My question is has anyone here ever done this, if so with what results. The company does provide a life time warranty so that makes me more confident. Thanks for your help.

it may be easier/cheaper to get the hubs redrilled and run discs off of a vw/audi also you may want to look at other brake manufacturers like brembo or wildwood to see if they make some 4 or 6 pot calipers that actually would bolt up easier, not to throw you off the track of your dream bug, it sounds rad, just redrilling wheels sounds a bit risky and expensive

consider tarox also. recent comments in a thread on here indicate it is a very good option in every respect.
