Grafting Superbeetle Pan Section
Greetings all,
I just found this forum, and coincidently, I have a question . Has anyone grafted the front of a Superbeetle pan to a standard pan ? After reading the thread on the advantages of struts over trailing arms, I would really be interested in doing this. This is a total pan off build/restoration on a very sad example of a '56 oval I rescued out of a wheat field in Eastern Oregon. Since I have to replace a large percentage of the metal anyway, the concept of grafting the afore mentioned section to the pan doesn't frighten me (much). I am planning a 2.6L type IV, and would really apreciate the superior suspension. Any help would be most appreciated. Casey Brown |
We will upload pictures soon from 55Superbeetles car in the suspension gallery.
There you will see an Oval with Super front suspension. Alex |
Hi Alex,
Have you uploaded the pictures of the grafted superbeetle suspension. If it is possible, why not 'graft' on the front of a 944 suspension, which is similar in design. There would probably have to be a triangulated subassembly to hold strut towers, but I wonder if someone has already done this? Tenzin |
