I hope some one can help me?...........

Hey people:

I'm pretty new to the Super side of the VW scene, and am tryin to learn as much as I can about the suspension (because, i believe that's were you make or break the vehicle...its all about handling).

So I want to run some 18"x8.5",18"x13" () Lamborghini Murcielago wheels with 2" wider front fenders and the widest I can find for the rear fenders...

Since the majority of the GL crowd sticks with Porsche wheels from various eras, I dont know if anyone will be able to help me out with this subject very much...

If there is any one out there...HELP ME PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE!:silly:

it should be pretty easy to do if you just want to adapt the wheels to your car and you arent talking about the brakes too.

Fisrt you would need to find our what wheel offsets the Lambo wheels come in, then you will be able to calculate how well they will fit you car & if you will need spacers or not.

Then you will need to buy some blank drums & rotors and have them drilled to the Lambo bolt pattern.

Wow those are big wheels. www.vwinnovations.com makes 4.5" wider rear fenders for your car. hope this helps.:)

You guys helped out alot, I cant really find out the offset right now because the wheels are about 250 miles away from my house, but when I do I might be able to figure it out....

I really appreciate the help

The 8.5" fronts will not be a big deal with 2" wider fronts. Like Vujade said, let us know the offset of the rears and you'll get the answer you need !

Thanks you guys for the answers,
I emailed the company for the offset, so far the only information that I have is 18"x8.5", ET=60 (Backspace is 7") front, and 18"x13", ET=14.5 (Backspace is 7.25") rear...
Does this make sense to anybody?

boygenius November 18th 2003 00:46

My rear rim is 18"x10" with a 65 ET and a 8-1/8" back spacing and it clears 944s rear suspension by 1-1/4". hope this helps.:)

boygenius:
Actually that helps alot, I've never even thought of putting wheels that wide on a VW before let alone my other cars, you have helped alot.
When i get the offset I'll post it up for your opinion, ok!
Its gonna take me some time to get the wheels though($6000...YEAH! It's gonna take some time)so I can plan alot before hand!

Thanx, now and ahead of time

you have the offsets. the "ET" number is your offset. lambo uses a very deep dish in the rear. they are 14.5mm out from center of the rim. so from the mounting surface (hub or drum) you will have about around 6" of wheel going outboard. and keep in mind, that is only to where the tire bead hits. there is another 5-10mm more to the lip. then assume some sidewall protrusion depending on tire selection.

if you go with 944 suspension, depending on which one, you can add anywhere from 1-3/4" to 3" per side. shortened IRS arms may be the better option if you are going to go with rims that large.

it can be done though.

$6,000 wow you have expensive taste... Why not use some aftermarket porsche wheels. How about some nice 19" magnesium rims... They will fit without having to get custum rotors drilled... Just a thought......

Zen:
Thanks for the solid answer you provided for me, I've never really delt with after market wheels before, except on my baja, and I have all the clearance I needed, THANK YOU for explaining it to me...

boygenius:
Of coarse it expensive its my passion, to be different and totally unessesarily, rediculous:silly: , besides it'll look incredible and thats what counts for me, function and looks?
