Urethane IRS pivots

Simple question here I hope. :)

I am mounting IRS arms (from a 944) and installed the Energy Suspension red urethane bushings for the IRS pivots. Now how do the washers work in this setup?

I assume one on each side, but again unsure.

Thanks,

Be sure and post when you figure it out. I've been eyeballin' my bushings and wondering also. Someday, hopefully soon, I will have arms to put them in.
What are you doing for lube against squeaks?

Pillow November 20th 2003 20:19

I am just using the lube that came with them... If they squeek then so be it... Just put on straight cut cam gears and a stinger :) LOL

I was told by my local VW shop that the two washers go on the outside of the bushing.

I have heard that as well... So again I am stumped!

Amazing how simple this question is and I do not really have a clue! Honestly I am beating myself over the head on it... I feel like a novice rub :(

I checked my well worn VW beetle manual. It shows one washer on each side of the bushing. I would assume that it would be the same for the porsche suspension. Hope this helps...;)

why dont you buy a used Porsche 944 manual and see what it say: you should be able to find one on ebay for $5-$30 and have it at your door step in a couple days....at least it would solve the problem
hope this helps:)

i've been meaning to look into this same thing myself. just haven't gotten around to it. will look over pelican parts for a parts diagram.

The answer is... Both!

The Haynes specifies 2 washers on the outside per stock VW IRS.

The Bus Boys instructions state that one washer per side is required for thier special mounts. Which is the way I will go on this.

Do not quote me on this... But I hope to have some control arms in today :)

Thanks,

My haynes manual shows one on each side but doesn't even mention them in the text.:silly:

heh..my ex just complained that the stinger was too loud  i think it goes good with the lines of the car...it matches the angle of the new beetle antenna on the roof.

my suspension had been pulled off by the PO, but it had both washers inboard. looks like i am putting them back in with one on each side.

Me too Zen. Haynes or not, this is the way that makes sense.
