944 rear caliper mounts

Is there more than one type for the NA, single pot calipers, I'm looking at some off a 86 and it dose not look like the one in my VW Beetle Performance Handbook pg. 115 and 116. What should I look for?? Thanks JR

Is the caliper a four piston brembo aluminum caliper from a turbo 944. Are you using stock trailing arms / steel 944 arms / early or late aluminum arms. In my book the rear caliper is shown on page 117.:)

Nope I'm looking for info on the caliper mounts.. The Aluminum disc the caliper bolts to... Info please,, I have this Porsche geek that knows nothing of his car, help me help him. Thanks JR

It is for me though, he says that he dosen't have rear caliper mounts(even though he sent me his calipers and rotors) Thanks JR

You said that the calipers were from an 1986 model. I'm going to assume then that the rotors are from the same car. 1985.5 and newer 944s use aluminum trailing arms with the caliper mounts molded into them. Hope this helps.:D You will need to purchase the caliper mounting bracket from a 1985.5 model year and older. I checked the parts catalog on www.pelicanparts.com and it was showing the same caliper for 1983 through 1988.

There are 2 different types of caliper mount for the early porsche 944 style brakes... but the usual one is the ally backing plate which unbolts from the steel trailing arm.
The other is an exact copy but is made from steel and cast. These are very rare, not really worth having as they are heavier and I think are found on very early 924 Turbo's.

Everything else is on ally arms and the bracket is part of the arm.

I think what jrinlv means is that he has purchased a set of calipers from a 1986 944 and is asking the breaker to also sell him the caliper mounts but he says they are not there, "he dosen't have rear caliper mounts(even though he sent me his calipers and rotors)".

jrinlv, the confusion is because the '86 has the aluminum rear trailing arms and the bracket mount is a part of the cast arm. It is the early cars, 83-85, that have the bracket mount that will bolt onto the arm. You'll either need the whole '86 rear trailing arm (that includes the mount) or you can use the bolt on mounts from the earlier cars.
