Caliper color.
OK here's the story. I have 944 suspension and brakes on my car. I'm going to rebuild the calipers. They are the non turbo steel calipers. What color should I paint them. The car will be red when finished. I already have black epoxy paint so that option would be free or should I order some red epoxy paint for the calipers.

For a red car I would paint them black.. for any other color car i painted them red.

I just had mine powdercoated gloss black. Look brand new. I am going with a dark grey/black theme.

I like aluminum or cast Iron grey.

WOW. That caliper looks great. :) |
If the car is going to be red, then I would go with black calipers and maybe small letters on them(PORSCHE in red, white or silver).
|
I have 993 C2 calipers front and rear and they're black. Car is Porsche polar silver with blacl trims. Guess its how you match the colour theme of your car. :) . I wanted to powdercoat them red but from where I come from everyone sprays their calipers red especially "ricers". so the 2nd thoughts! Silver would be nice too like 993 C4. :)

My town is over run with rice, there everywhere. Some moron told me 911's suck and if I wanted to go fast I should sell my beetle and get a honda civic. I tried talking some sense into him but there's no hope for a ricer. They think spending 15K to run 14's with a engine Swap and a turbo kit and nitrous is a good deal. They say "I have a 200hp civic hatch and it weighs only 1600 lbs" Stupid idiots can't get traction until 4th gear because there cars are WRONG WHEEL DRIVE. I could rant for hours about RICE.  |
I always like the way the ricers look at my brakes! Jaws and eyes wide open! :D Anyway red is still nice, guess if powder coat it a brighter colour, the calipers would look bigger than a dark coloured one. :) :haveadrin

Some day I will have jaw dropping brakes, but for now I will be happy with my non turbo brakes. Besides my whole 944 suspension set up including front brakes and rear brakes and rear trailing arms it will only cost me $700. Some day I will upgrade to a set of 993 or 996 rotors and calipers. :) :puke: RICE... For now my tiny 11" rotors will have to do. |
i voted black because it looks clean and not to flashy. i painted my Audi 4000 calipers red and it looks cool (car and wheels are white) but that was that one time...
For my beetle im going to do them black or silver. Also black wont show the brake dust at much, so you wont need to clean them as much to make them look good. |
People the world over (all sub-species, ricers included) are inspired to paint their brake calipers red ('even do their drums! :agree: :agree:  ) by the fortunate few owners of baadass 911's.
If my Beetle was a darker colour, I would paint the calipers '6pot yellow' with black detail. If it was a red Beetle, I'd choose black. But I voted red. When I reach 30, they might get painted black :( : http://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/85827.jpg |
I have decided to paint them black...
when I saw that the new pontiac grand am came with "shiny red shoes" I decided to leave red calipers to the big reds which are in my future. So for now my non turbo calipers will get a glossy black coat of paint. :) Thank you to everybody that gave their input... |
I think black looks the cleanest...I would only do red if they came red..."Big Reds".....why fake it...people know the difference.
