what length axles with late 944 ali arms?
 

for anyone running the late 944 ali arms (specifically i am running 944S or 951 arms), what length axles are you running? i am measuring 21" from flange to stub so i hunted down some 21" axles, but boygenius just brought up a point i hadn't thought of is that once the suspension is compressed, that distance will be shorter. i do have a pair of 19" axles also.

it will be a week or so before i get this thing on the ground and need to know ASAP so i can we working on my axles in the meantime. dyno day coming up in two week.s :(

the distance between drive flange and stub axle is 21" with the suspension fully extended and 21 1/4" fully compressed. :laugh:

that's with bug flanges? how much further does a T181 flange stick out than a bug flange?

I think about an 1" more than the bug drive flanges.

When I installed one of the flanges in my transmission the cv's were pushed in instead of being in a neurtal position.

can anyone else confirm what you are running? the extra length of the T181 output flange has me a little confused because i don't know of any 20" axles. i have 19" and 21". 21" will require me to use T181 flange. 19" i have option of either 90 or 100.

so what are the rest of you running?:

what ali arms?
what output flanges?
what length axle?

I'm using 86 944 N/A alu arms, stock 72 super tranny at the moment, and i'm using 21 1/4" vanagon axles with beetle inner cv's and bus outer cv's
