Exhaust idea...

So i have been looing around at all those "fatboy" style mufflers and have heard a few myself. Anyways, i think somtimes having a loud exhast system is a little overrated... especialy in a street car.
My thoughts where to create a dual muffler setup coming from some Kymco 1 5/8 headers, not in the sence of having it split into two exits, but having the mufflers in series and exiting out one larger exit maybe out the fender instead of the rear apron (depends on clearance). the mufflers would be in the fender wells with a pipe going to one, then accros the trany area, to the other and out the back.

So what do you guys think? would it take away to much HP having two mufflers?

Thanks
Jonathan

What about a BAS header with a C5 muffler.

The two exits could be routed to the original cut-outs in the rear apron.

I have a titanium vance & hines muffler on my merged header. The muffler only weighs 3 lbs. I also have 1 yamaha R6 muffler and I will get another so I might build an exhaust similar to yours. Come to think of it I also have a V&H CF muffler and a suzuki sv-650 exhaust and a dented hayabusa muffler. Man I need to clean out my garage.

Hmm... intersting.

What do you guys think about having the two mufflers in series be a flow through design? perhaps this wouldent be restrivtive and would mellow the tones out at low-mid RPM yet be heard at higher rpm?
I dont want a "ricer" sounding exhaust. but somthing thats more throty, and deep.

This talk is good. keep up the posts on different exhaust configurations!

I don't know if I like the muffler coming through the rear fender. Although I guess it's good for ground clearance. :)

i have the BAS, but have only run it with the open header so far. will have the full exhaust on soon. if you want to hear it with the open header, it is in the multimedia section on the front page of this site.

if we used a subaru muffler... would it make a sound like subaru?? u know... the sound like the engine is broken! i like that!

Bug@5speed(US) September 8th 2008 13:06

Bullet,

If you are referring to the subaru sound, it mostly due to unequal length headers..
