Removing torsion springs & replacing with coilovers
 

Hi,

I'm wondering what the effect of removing the rear torsion springs (and not replacing them) and replacing the shocks with coilovers would be. I've built a Porsche 550 Spyder and am looking for better suspension tuning as I've been autocrossing the car and there's a great deal of oversteer in throttle-off corners.

There are kits available (like the one from Red9), but I would imagine you can also just get stiffer torsion bars and / or shocks..prolly a lot cheaper.

The rear uniball set-up from MBT is great. Great quality and great big dollars. I have put it on my tube chassis Manx and there are suspension pictures in the 14/12 adapter thread in suspension section. I have yet to drive it so cannot comment of effectiveness. I used Red9 sourced coil-overs front (eliminated torsion bars) and rear. Then used the MBT parts: uniballs, steel caliper adapters for rear 996, and 14/12mm adapters. If I can help let me know. Now on to fuel and brake lines, oh and floorpans and seat rails....
