tube chassis vs mod up IRS pan
Hey guys i am talking to a race car fabricator here in Indy about building a custom bolt on Double wish bone front suspention for my 64 bug. I am trying to decide right now if i want to get an IRS pan and start work from there or just go all tube chassis. If i go the way of tube chassis then I can also have double a arm rear suspention if i want. Each have there pros and cons the IRS route would be cheaper i am thinking but is heaver and i have to work with what is avaliable. Going tube chassis leaves me more open to doing custom work. My car will not be a daily driver just a spring and fall and weekend car. some auto x and some road racing. a few questions for you that might know. how much weight may i look at loosing by going the tube chassis way?

you probably won't loose a whole lot of weight going all tube, but you will gain a whole lot of stiffness, big plus for handling.
I've been looking at doing an A arm front and rear suspension setup on a standard pan. |
yeah the a arm suspention can be done good or really bad. that is why i am talking to this guy he worked for Andretti's indy car program a few years back and he does a lot of one off suspention parts for ventage F1 cars and the like.

nothing wrong with doing it right ;)
|
so would you be interested in a bolt on front end if i had one made?
|
it would all depend on the cost
|
Lots of people would be interested if the cost is reasonable. I want one for my car.
