Dash layouts
I was wondering if anyone has any good pics of say a pre 73 dash. I have gauges in it now but im trying to figure out how I want them installed. :cool:

I guess dash layout is a fairly personal choice - what one person loves another person may hate.
I welded shut the stock radio hole then opened it up for three autometer gauges, used a doner dash to make the drop down section to house my stereo headunit etc and installed the monster tach under the dash. Some may hate it but they don't have to drive it so who cares ;) You'll figure out what suits you best (the magazines provided a good source of inspiration for me). Your steering wheel is likely to block some of the gauges, so locate the most important end of the gauges scale within clear view. I'd want to see <85 mph, tach redline, pressure low end, temp high end, etc. Make a mock-up with paper to get a visual on your layout before buying panel inserts and installing. You need to see 'em to use 'em. In-dash gauges are the best for visibility. Train yourself to scan the gauges and the mirrors frequently. If you have to put critical gauges under the dash, it's best to have a warning light/buzzer so you can keep your eyes on the road while you hammer on it.
