Type 4 question, Size?
I need some help, I have three differant type 4 engines, in various states of dismantle, and I'm trying to figure out the size they are  they all have the heads off (at least). I remember hearing about valve sizes. I'm not sure where to look for the info. I'd appreciate any help on this subject.
Thanks, |
If the heads are off, then measuring the bore size would be the quickest method of finding the size- assuming they haven't had any unusual rebuilds.
Then check out Tunas site with the displacement table. http://tunacan.net/t4/reference/displace.shtml Stock from the factory the 1700 and 1800 came with a 66mm crank and the 2L a 71mm crank. Bore size 90mm, 93mm and 94mm respectively. Otherwise check the case numbers and compare to this table on Tunas site http://tunacan.net/t4/reference/case.htm Cheers Jeremy |
thank you
Thanks for the links, that's EXACTLY what I needed. Using the info in the link you gave me. I bought a complete running 2.0L Bus engine for $40, and two Type 4 heads for $5 each, 1 is a 1.8L and the other is a 2.0L.
Thanks again for the link. |
