18 inch Fuchs?
Hi
A freind of mine had some 18 inch Fuchs made, found some junked 16 Fuchs, had the rims machined off, then had some 2 pice rims fitted. Photos below. Awesome!!!! Jaw dropping... You guys in Australia rock! Any idea on the cost of making that kind of conversion? I've been toying with the idea of doing the same to 2.0l fuchs. Who could make this. I live in Québec, Canada. Thanks

Thanks for posting the pics Steve, that's a "phat" 1303!

Hi
The owners name is Steve as well, he is in the same car club as me, he is also building a WRX powered 1303 besides this one. The wheels cost $500.00AU each, this was the cost of the machining of Fuchs centre and making the rims, he collected damaged 16 inch Fuchs over a period of time for not a lot of money, once the word gets out the damaged rims may go up in price. If you think the wheels look familiar you may have already seen them on the Dak to the Future car. Steve http://www.clubvw.org.au/images/GT2side.jpg |
There is already a place in the US that has been making these for years, definitely not cheap though!

Those are pretty sweet. I like the unfinished style better than the detailed ones. My friend is having his 16 x6 and 7 fuchs turned into 17's.

How wide are those 18s? What's the offset?
If the backspacing is the same as stock, the fronts look to be around 7" wide, and the rears look like 9s. |
Hi Bruce
They are 7s on the front and 9s on the rear, not sure about backspace, the mudguards are wider and are the same as the ones I had on my old 1302. Steve |
