Hey Samcat....
First of all, congratz on a great ride. I especially like the removable rear end. I see that you have a pretty bumping sound system in your bug. How much amps total is the system eating and is your alternator powering everything ok?

:)
Rockford Fosgate Power 500a2 (birth certificate lists it at 726 watts max ;) ) Rockford Fosgate Punch 250a2 (birth certificate lists it at 331 watts max :) ) I run a voltmeter so I can see that everything is running as it should, and with headlights on (main beam), fog lights on (pair of 100 watt bulbs) and stereo pounding we see dips down to 13.2 volts on heavy bass lines... So yes, it copes fine :) Its a brand new bosch 90amp(think) alternater by the way. CYa, Sam C |
Thats really cool. It tells me that I can still have some bump in my system! By the way what size of fuse are you running to each amplifier?
Thanks for the info Clint  |

As for stereo, I have previously run a steg amp with a pro-plus nemesis (at 2ohm), and that didnt cause the volts to wobble either :) That was a wicked amount of power. http://members.lycos.co.uk/vdubhub/a...location_1.jpg The steg was around 700 watts RMS, and the pro plus Nemesis... Go a look it up, heres a taster: 1200 watts RMS in two ohm RMS current @ 2 ohm mono: 90 A Thats RMS... Bit over double for the peak.. Think what 2400 watts into 2 subs sounds that can handle it sounds like ;) Was driving a pair of Cerwin Vega 12" subs, each in its own box. That was when I was going through my loud stage, now its all about quality :) CYa, Sam C |
Wow
That must have been one heck of a loud phase!!! Sorry about the fuse "hide and seek" question, but that must mean that you put the correct one in since you haven't had to change one ;) ! Now Im pretty sure the alternator will keep up! Thanks again Clint |
