Hubs?

What does it take to change hubs on a vehicle to one's that aren't meant for it?
P.S. Nothing too specific just a general idea would suffice.

Your'e all over the place!

Not just any hub will work on any spindle. What spindles do you have, and what hubs do you want to use?

If'n your'e using Porsche 944, 951, 911, etc... on VW standard, or CB dropped spindles then a search of this site will yield multiple topics containing info you need.

If'n your'e using Superbeetle stuff, then again, a search is in order. The info's all here somewhere. :D

Now, if'n your'e gonna use something other than P-car stuff, or direct aftermarket upgrades that are intended to work on a Bug, the info may get a little cloudy.

It's easy,

Find another vehicle with the same bearings and bearing spacing as yours and you're set. It'll take a huge amount of resources (time and trips to the junkers) to figure it out. And to tell you the thruth, for the T1 (Beetle) platform, I haven't found anything yet....

For the record the T1 bearings are:
races: L45410 inner, LM11710 outer
bearings L45449 inner, LM11749 outer

Good luck,

Lanner

Does this have anything to do with Karmann Ghia-based hubs (~72.3mm) and typical 4x100 or 5x100 VW water-cooled wheels having a 57.1 hub hole?

(This is like playing darts in the dark.)

If it is, you can have your front wheels* machined to fit as I did, or you can get Lanner's Golf-based brakes in either pattern and not have any worries.

Although I am very happy with what I have, I probably would have gone the latter route if I were doing this today. Furthermore, if I find that my current front brakes could use an improvement after the drivetrain upgrade, I still might get Lanner's brakes.

* The rear wheels did not need machining.

I was mostly wondering about difficulty 'cause I like the Wilwood Outlaw brakes.

Well, at least I didn't go hunting with the Vice President. ;)

Who is Lanner? Do you have any contact info? Are Lanner's brakes for popular stud patterns like 5x100 or 4x100?
