GL found at Farmington, NC show

Hey guys, I found a GL at the Farmington show I just came from. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3...6.jpg~original

The first two things I noticed about it seems almost contradictory to each other. First, it looks like someone did a nice, clean job of removing chrome trim and welding the holes. Second, I couldn't help notice the car not only has the stock chrome driver's mirror but also has the matching one on the other side. I was thinking my car would be the only GL'er with those mirrors.

Do you remember what car was parked next to it with the dual headlights?

Isnt it just another Bug, but with those hideous aftermarket front fenders?

Too late O im already too cheap 4 u. i went with a stock chrome mirror. sticking with the promise to my mom (this was her car when she was in college and was a gimme)that i wouldnt alter the stock form of the body.in case she wanted to buy it back in its "restored" form.

Have you ever seen some of the original GL's from Europe? This is about what they looked like in the 1980's. The fenders were steel. The windows were up so, i couldn't get a shot of his 914 gauge cluster. I couldn't find the owner to ask about the car, but i'm sure they are not done with it. I just thought it was cool seeing a GL in the sea of "resto customs" and stockers.

Nope, have those still as well :D Its NOT a GL trade mark to have 'different' mirrors..

Your question is in response to my question about the dual headlights of the car next to the feature car in that picture, right?

I saw a Super in VolksWorld or VW Scene (I'd bet more money it's the latter) that had front fenders with dual headlights. That car featured in that magazine wasn't trying to be GL. In fact, I thought it was being referred to as being 1980's-retro. I took it to meaning this was a European fad counterpoint to the American Rolls Royce or Mulholland kits ... but I could have misread between the lines.

I was curious if this car was also a Super. The one in that mag happened to be black as well.

Now about "my" stock mirrors ...

... I guess keeping the same doesn't make me different. :D

Sorry guys :o , i missed the whole question. The car with the dual headlights was just one of those "rolls royce" kits gone bad. I tried not to look at it , but i had to pass by it to get to the GL.

A RR "gone bad" means someone attached it to a Beetle. :D Actually, I didn't realize RR kits included the dual headlights. The pic I saw was a regular 1303 with the dual headlights. It was not my cup of tea but I couldn't say it looked all that terrible either.

Sorry I distracted attention from the purpose of this thread. :o

It's all fun and games till someone looses a thread
