early steering wheel in my 73 super

hi,

well im tired of my grant steering wheel and i would like the 60's style or the old 3spoke steering wheels. i was wondering if anyone has done this, and what are the mods i would need to do? any help would help pics would be great.

thanks, bow

There was/is a big discussion on this at SBO recently. If I remember correctly, the spline is the same for all years 1960-73 and 1974 was perhaps a split year.

This is different from my problem. I want a Scirocco steering wheel for my 1971 Super. Apparently, these will interchange automatically with later year Supers but I am left out in the cold.

I have been sidetracked with getting everything together for a drivetrain upgrade (to be reported later) but one thing I want to investigate is being able to swap (1) a '72 column and (2) a post-'74 shaft with my '71.

bow, I think you should be fine. :)

When you say the shaft is smaller, do you just mean the threading or do you mean the length, too?

the threading
