Bug@5-Speed Oil Pan for subaru EJ application (info)
3 Attachment(s)
To all,
Alot of folks have shown interest in persuing subaru EJ conversions. Given the interest, I have been working with Martin to get info and see if we can offer the Bug@5Speed Oil Sump here in the states. I have included some info and pics, Enjoy Alex Details: -The sump is sandcasted like all our other parts. -The capacity of oil is 4,25 litres (thatīs only 0,25 less than original). If you shorten an original sump you loose about a 1 litre. -It is very stabile (you can put a hydraulic lifter under it and lift the car), so nothing happens if the car is low and the sump hits the floor). If you have the original sump, thatīs virtually impossible. -The cooling properties are much better than with the original one. Water temperature is reduced by about 10 degrees Celsius, if you switch from original to the bug@5Speed sump. -The pick-up tube inside the sump must be modified (shortened). But thatīs no big deal. Anyone who does such a project will easily handle this task. -The original dipstick can be used, but must be shortened a little. Price to follow. |
PM me if you have them in stock and are ready to go.
Thanks, Randy |

Wanted to update this thread with some new pics with our scooby sump mounted on a car.
First the test car, which is Martin's personal daily driver. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5.jpg~original Pic1- Here is a shot from the rear of the vehicle. As you can see our sump provides ample clearance and does not protrude beyond the exhaust header. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...6.jpg~original Pic2- Side View http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5.jpg~original Pic3- Side View (Close-Up) http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...4.jpg~original Pic4- Other side View. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...8.jpg~original I hope this helps clarify any issues on the sump and how it looks on a car. But if you have questions feel free to contact me. VR Alex |
