lets TALK hayabusa motor

ok guys lets make some talk what about a hayabusa motor in a bug you can turbo them and get 380hp at 20,000RPM ahhh. common 1300cc not bad. so what do you guys got to say?
you can get a used motor off Ebay for 2500$ that's not bad eh.

Not sure if it is a bad idea, or a god one!? Two things that come to mind is what are the Torque figures on such a motor, and how to reliably get the drive from the motor to the Bug axles/gearbox.

chug_A_bug January 12th 2007 08:52

hey well I dont' knwo the Tor on the motors but I would just sit it in the back seat and run a straght axel witha chain just like a bike keep it light too.

i have seen this done in a fiat 500. the only problem is that the torque on the motor is to little so you will sacrifice accelration i think you culd go just as fast with that 2k by just keeeping it vw

chug_A_bug January 12th 2007 09:48

Cool cool
Ya you can most likely go way fasters with a vw but I just wanted to see what ppl thought ya so it's all good can you think about anything other??

I believe there was an interesting thread over at shoptalk in the conversion forum on this topic.. some of the same issues were brough up..

Just FYI

Chris.....

tubframe.....mid engine Hayabusa with 6sp sequential gear box (reverse might be a problem ;-) )....light weight parts for the bug....15 or 16" lightweight rims....
Sounds like an awesome plan for a track/motorcross/street car. You will spend a lot of money for a go fast Typ1 and even more for a go fast Type 4 enigne. You might want to contact Z- Cars in the UK to get some ideas....as they do a lot of motorcycle engine conversions.

I think it is something that should be considered.

^^just buy thier tranny, mount engine in backseat area, & run radiator by decklid w/special ducting. Drag racers have gotten over 500hp out of these engines on thier bikes by using turbos.

i raced the z cars mini a few years ago at mini's v beetle's at york race way, left me for dead,

just imagine 500bhp with a squirt of nitrous for good measure :D , like said above they dont apear to be that torque'y though
