Question about Evercoat Slicksand...
Re-doing the paint on the front bumper cover of the Jetta. Has a few knicks and scratches in the cover along with a crack or two I've repaired with two part.
Can I use the wonder primer to help fill in the tiny stuff on this flexible part? Do I need to add the flex-additive that is used in finish paint to the primer? Plan is to just shoot it with some single stage and get it back on the road but it has a few pinholes and rough areas that I would like to be able to block down. Thanks guys! Jeff- |
Sorry Jeff, It's ONLY recomended for metal, aluminum, and wood. Personaly, I use SEM39863 plastic adhesion promoter. Followed by SEM39133(sands easy) flexable bumper primer surfacer. They work great with urethane top coats. ;)

Thanks Wrench. What brand is that? I've been shopping at the local Sherwin Williams and using their base/clear stuff (ultra base I think), not because I'm partial, because they are close.

It sticks to fibreglass, and SMC plastic too, but I'm not sure about urethane. I'd talk to somebody local who knows. Ask the folks at a paint store that sells Evercoat products. That's how I found out it won't stick to etch primer, instead of finding out the hard way.

Thanks guys! Its a crap shoot at the paint store, sometimes theres a guy there who knows whats what and sometimes its just an order filler behind the counter  .

they should had named it evercoat hard coat instead of slick coat. the junk does build up thick but its hard as a rock and the stuff when you mix it. u really dont have time to waste.. i shoot alot of different paint.. my fav is house of kolor or any brand 2k urethane primer. i used evercoat slick sand one time. a whole gallon and i'd never paint with that stuff ever again. it was a nightmare from hell. if your not quick enough your gun will ruin, also u got to have a big tip or you wont be able to spray the stuff. like i said if i was to do it over again i'd stayed with 2k urethane high build primer, those builds up really good at hidin stuff and you can block them easy, n have descent clean up times.
