paint color or code
 

can someone please tell me what color and type of paint was used on this bug? http://www.germanlook.com/gallery/general/0234.jpg

hi i have been looking for a similar colour. if it helps at all so far in my search i have found an audi colour called flash silver....sorry no codes as of yet.

I can't testify to that color but it is darn close to one of my favorite colors by Volkswagen -- Platinum Gray Metallic Clearcoat (LD7X). That color was offered for New Beetles (and perhaps other models) from 2002-08 but I don't really see it that often.

I agree I love that color, so much in fact that my beetle just got painted it two days ago. When it gets together there will be pics. The color also came on mk IV jettas, the shade is a little bit different on some cars but with the same base.

did you use the LD7X? does that mean i can use any brand of paint as long as i say the LD7X or is it a code exclusively for a brand of paint? can wait to see some pics.

thanks for the infos. this is one of my favorite colors.

i dont know much about paints. may i ask what brand to use? is dupont ok? if so, do i use the LD7X code when i go to the paint store to have it mixed?
i recently saw a porsche with similar color and they call it meteor grey metallic.

Yup I used LD7X. I'm not sure about the brands I got it all done at the body shop, I'm not much of a paint guy.

I thought I had seen that color elsewhere but I just wasn't sure. I can't wait to see your pics. :)
