New Volks From Northern California

I wanted to say HI! and also say this is an amazing forum. I have wanted to hop up a SB since the early 80's and there wasn't much available back then. I have been working on and building VW's for almost 25 years now and its time for the next project(German Look). I'm going to go look at a few SB's this week that some guy has for sale and I've lined up a few parts like a 901 trans and a 2.2 liter Subaru.
Here are a few pictures of my past VW's.

Welcome!!!

Looks like you might be a central valley guy? Those are some fun projects you've got.

A GL bug would mix a little bit of all of those together!!

I'm in Santa Rosa, are you thinking about heading to the last Bugorama?

I'm 90 miles North of Sac. I'm not big into the shows. We did both BOR's last year and that was enough for me. Maybe next year we will go with the new project. Are you going?

It looks like I bought a 1974 SB today with no motor or trans for 500.00 with original paint, never hit and they doors open and close great. I stupidly forgot to take pictures of it which I will do when I pic it up next week. I also found a 2.2 Subaru and I already modify(shorten) the oil pan and water manifolds in our shop so that wont be an issue and I have a lead on a 5 rib 091 trans so I on my way. Later tonight I will search the forum to find out if anyone has gone to the pre 73 bumpers on their 74 or later. I am also going to order some wider fiberglass fenders from Germany and have them put in my container that comes over every couple of months. If anyone else is interested please let me know.

Sounds awesome!!!

On the fenders, are you getting the flaired ones?

If not, Creative Car Craft here makes great fenders.

No flaires. Thanks for the tip. I will check them out.

Well the 74 SB is still sitting and I just came across a 74 non-SB Sun Bug. I have also picked up 83 944 brakes, hubs and complete rear suspension and Monday I am picking up a Subaru 2.2.
The question is. I really like Sun Bugs(many childhood memories) and it looks easier to do a radiator in a standard than an SB and I really like the strut SB front end but is it worth it for not having a Sun Bug. Opinions please?

There is much more room and it is much easier to do a radiator in a super...

Found a good deal on a 73 and braught it home. Never hit complete minus the engine and a bad repaint from orange to blue.

Perdy schweet combo you've got there! Keep us updated. BTW, I layed a tapemeasure out behind a Boxter S the other day, and it looks like with 3" wider fenders and maybe a flared edge, a Boxter motor and tranny could slot right in the back of a bug!!! Just in case you need some more trouble...
