Need everyones help

Hello im new here and hope i am posting in the correct area.Im looking to trade up my pro built 300hp mustang for a VW or sell it and buy one but im not to sure as to what year to get.I am thinking 60's to stay away from smoging it.I made the mistake of not researching when i bought the mustang and ended up having to invest a lot of money into it when i should have just bought a later year one and saved money i want to avoide this when i go to buy a VW bug any ideas on a good year to start this build? it will be a daily driver and run 13's at track...I hope

So you don't have a preference for looks of the different years, it should be a daily driver, and your "track" requirements are in a straight line only?

body style not really but i do like the older ones like 60's biggest concern though is what is better for setting up a drag bug the older swing axles or the 72 style i forget what there called same goes with the front end as well what is better? bug would never do road course just straite down the drag strip.

Somthing like this would be sweet but i would restore though lol

You'll probably want a 66 or older then. Less safety stuff and just less stuff in general. You'll need to do a new tranny to handle HP and you'll probably want to do a disc brake setup up front to make safe stops. Build your motor, add a Kafer-cup brace and probably a rear engine mount, some seatbelts and decent seats and you'll have a fast and relatively reliable car in a straight line. A roll bar would be one thing you might want to seriously consider if you think you'll be making regular track runs.

I could only find a small photo of the Kafer-cup brace this keeps stuff from twisting up ?

yeah, it triangulates the rear suspension and tranny/motor cradle to keep things together. Then there is a rear engine mount that keeps the motor from moving around too much. There will probably be the need for a heavy duty trans mount system too if this is going to be heavily stressed.
