The resson Im saying anything is that a local guy who does a few auto-x events in a 73 standard re-indexed his rear bars and pre loaded them against the spring...

re-indexing torsion bars will not raise your spring rate, but it will make your car sit higher at rest. Yes it also makes you have a larger operating range if you raise your car.

I cut my bump stops down to about 1"... solved...

I cut my bump stops down to about 1"... solved the harsh hit, and there is still plenty of safety margin. Im about 2 inches from touching the stops at rest. Im also using the bilsteins w/26mm torsion...
