My Jacobs ignition actually uses the bosch or whatever coil you already have. The current than goes to a secondary coil that ups the voltage. if I remember right the reason for multisparks is to help with the exhaust , multi sparks will burn off any of the excess gas from bad timeing and help keep the heads cooler because less exhaust material will flow out on the exhaust stroke also creating less blow by.
