best method for test fitting?

I am currently in the middle of my project. I thought I had chosen the right wheels (Design 90's) but my new brakes (996 w/ monoblocs) do not fit inside these. I am now wondering how I should determine the best size. I now know I need at least 17", but width and offset are still a question. I will be using the following combo:

Front: 996 brakes on '87 944 n/a hubs (with bearing adapters) and CB performance cast dropped spindles, '69 chassis w/ adjustable front beam and balljoints

Rear: 996 brakes on narrow 944 aluminum rear trailing arms and spring plates with a thin (about 3-4 mm) spacer under the rotor for clearance, center torsion adjusters (like offroaders use)

With so many differences from stock, I think I will be building the whole thing minus the wheels and tires. What is the best way to build mockups of the wheels I might use? I am considering these: Porsche 17" C2

any suggestions will be great

thanks
Scott
