I think that it has been stated that rear drums from irs and swingaxle beetles are interchangable so the rear 944 hubs should swap over as well, there is only a slight problem with the spline length. The swingaxle splines are a little too short so you need to machine like 15mm off of the end of the hub to get the nut to thread on.
