Try some stiffer rear torsion bars. I think the stock ones are 22mm, try some porsche 944 torsion bars. They are a direct replacement but they are thicker than your VW ones. you get probably find a set on ebay for $40 to $60 USD. I have a set of I think 25mm ones and the rear of my car is very stiff. Although I haven't driven it yet.
