totally different powerband!!! make sure you know how you are going to use the engine and what you want out of it. a rotary (mostly from what i have read, not from experience) is only going to give you power and torque way up high. a TIV (and this is from experience) hits you starting at 2500 and you know it. cost is very different depending on what HP and torque you are looking for though no doubt.
decide what you want out of the car first and then figure out the best way to get there. otherwise you could find yourself very disappointed in the results after some very hard work and money spent. there was a rotary discussion thread over on STF that was pretty interesting. it was a month or two ago and i think it was in jake's forum or maybe euro look. you may find it helpful.
