looking at what others have done.

16x7 ET 40 no spacers
17x7 ET 38 no spacers

it looks like you have about 38-40mm of inner and outer fender clearance. If you push out the outer fender by 1 1/4" and use a 8.5" rim you'd look at about a 25mm offset to get them to fit. That would pull in the wheel 42.2mm closer to the inner fender and push the wheel edge out about 40.4mm.

This was all done under the assumption that the stock wheel is 15x4 ET 40mm.
