One final thought is that I have just completed installation of 17's on my 72 Super. For the rear drums, I had them redrilled (correctly) with studs and related maching to make them right. I had this done for about $140 US total, not including cost of the drums.

If you want to go for adapters, $100 each Canadian is a deal.

One more thing, Lanners work = Top quality. I purchased the skinny coils set from Lanner which allowed me to install 215\45 on the front of my beetle. Great Quality!
