It would be advisable to keep compression numbers low if you want the engine to have sufficent longevity to compensate the cost. But, isn't that the case with the magnesium cased type ones anyhow? If you are looking at building a turbo type 1 I'd look into an aluminum case and maybe having that cryo'ed. I 've heard that makes a pretty strong and long lasting case. I would also contact the guys at Turbo City for some tech advice. Are you looking for a before of after the carb set up? These are just some things that I've heard and thought I'd pass them on.
