Early 944 TA's differant from VW? Yes.

In order for my wheels to clear the fender arches I needed to move the bearing carriers in about an inch. I tried narrowing my 944 N/A trailing arms. I ran into a problem. There's an extra peice of metal on the inside. After I compared them to stock vw, I realized the Vw trailing arms didn't have this peice of metal. A few people have said there's no differance, but I can tell you there is. Only after completely ruining a good 944 trailing arm did I realize this. I've inclosed pictures of my finding. I haven't tried cutting on a stock vw Trailing arm to see if it would be easier to remove, but I plan to.

Can anyone else support this?

Picture 1 is the 944 trailing arm. You'll notice the extra peice of metal on the left side of the opening.
Picture 2 is the stock vw, there is only a peice of metal at both ends of the bearing carrier. Nothing in the middle.
