I've never put much faith in oil additives. Many are Band-Aids for your smokey engine, many contain "Performance Enhancing properties"

, Some boost fuel mileage, some say they fight wear, and some say they clean the innards of your engine.
To avoid the confusion, I just go with good quality oil only. I'm not saying that some of them don't provide certain positive results, I just don't like the whole "Buy our snake-oil 'cause we sponsor NASCAR!!!" thing... can't make myself buy an additive by endorsement alone.
I remember in the early '90s when Slick-50 was the shizzle, and all my buddies had to try it in their 5 litre Mustangs, and Z28 Camaros. Many of their cars blew up anyway.
