That's correct Brett,

If the mounting surface is toward the outside of the centerline that is positive offset and toward the inner is negative.

There is a big difference between offset and backspacing and the two get confused sometimes.

Backspacing is the distance between the inner wheel "lip" (tire bead area) and the mounting plate.
