It's just .040"(if memory serves..) music wire, not a tough item to change. If your using a 40+ year old shifter, I'd consider it maintenance.

The Empi knock offs are decent too. I've got one in my car right now while I work on machining a custom "hybrid" Hurst (bronze bushings, incorporated line lock button mount etc)

They ALL have their shortcomings, but for value and functionality you cannot beat the Hurst.

Everyone has their preference though,
