between us this conv is tricky
i've been ringing round this morning trying to source and price up parts for my 944 disc conversion.
i am looking to use the 944T braking system front and rear on my bug.
i say 944T but have now discovered that not just the 944t has the 4 pot calipers i want to use. all the better i now have more options.
the complication is that i have a swingaxle rear end. I have looked into this and think that i will be able to graft them on anyway as the irs drums fit the swingaxle drive shafts, same splines.
as far as i know i need parts from a pre 87 944 which is before the ABS right?? i want the 4 pot calipers and discs.
i started out looking for an 1986 944 but was told this was a 1 off model for that year and would be looking for a needle in a haystack. so i continued for a pre 87 car.
i have read the how to's for the front and have the resources and skills to atempt the rear. i was looking for the steel trailing arms for the seperate caliper brackets, but again a little thin on the ground.
oh well the search goes on.
i think i am going to end up buying a complete rear end and the front brake assemblies plus the master cylinder although i have no need for the trailing arms its probally the best way to go.
ANY info and help u guys can provide will aid my "learning" so please fire away.
also does anyone have any of the parts i need for sale? anything considered. or sources in the uk for parts and info.
thanks for the help.
