Hi, at peesent i'm helping a friend rebuild his engine. We had the rods re-done. But after looking at the nuts, the nuts had dings, deep scratches. I asked my friend to get at least new nuts. He went to a VW shop for the parts. They sold him the nuts that he needed. The shop also said that they have never heard of nuts coming lose and damaging a engine. Would you have replaced the nute? I suggested having the bolts and nuts replaced, if not at least the nuts.
