I'm in no way an expert in anything to do with this but would it not be better to use a gearbox from a Boxter instead of a 911 (assuming that they are different)
With the Boxter being mid engined you will beable to mount the V8 that much further forward, therefore better weight distribution.
As for the radiator you could mount it in the engine bay either ducting air from underneath with an alloy undertray of by fitting air ducts like the yellow bug on page 1 of the general gallery.
