Thanks...

Thanks everyone for your comments. First up I have to say that I'm one of those people that bought the car as it is (he says bowing his head in shame), but I have ENORMOUS respect for all you guys that build just about anything from scratch. This car had lots of things already done that I wanted to do anyway, and I can change little things as I go. I'm learning slowly and will change things as I learn. I made a couple of (big) mistakes filling out the profile of the car, being in such a hurry to put it up, so my apologies. The main one is that it has KYB oil filled shocks on the front, and gas on the back, not konis (gee Rob, I'm a twit, but it was 3 am). After this post I'll go back and correct that, and whatever else I find. For vw1303, The Wheels are DTM 17x7.5s, 5x114.3 PCD. Front discs and calipers are from a VW Golf, and rears are Porsche 914 discs and VW Jetta GTI calipers. I forgot to mention the CB performance drop spindles, Adjustable rear spring plates, 24mm adjustable whiteline front sway bar, and 28mm adjustable whiteline rear sway bar.. Blah, blah. I'm not actually happy with the brakes, although it looks like I should be. They stop great in the dry, but water adversely affects the calipers (I think) in a big way and halves my stopping distance. Really spongey pedal with no affect. I wonder if anyone you know has had this problem with these calipers?? I thought initially that it was the pads but I've been told otherwise by a couple of people. I soon want to go to 944 all around from reading a few good things here on this forum. It looks like the way to go. I want to race it eventually, so here I come........... Bill
