I used parts from the factory rear struts. Taking it apart you are going to use the spring, rubber spring cups (which are at the top), and the spring perch, which separates from the factory strut at the bottom of the spring.

So now, with these 3 parts, place the rubber ring, on the bottom adjust-a-strut perch. The metal bottom perch now will become your top perch. You weld this to the beetle top spring plate/retainer. You can weld this on a offset biased to the middle of the car for more tire clearance. You have to make sure everything is clear for the damper rod to pass through.
