FWIW the RX-7 oil cooler have a t-stat already built in. IMO the RX-7 cooler is the best out there for VWs IF you can fit it somewhere.
Later today I can show some horrible mock up photos of an RX-7 cooler on my 57 Oval if anyone is interested?
The RX-7 cooler likes -10AN (5/8" ID) which is the biggest lines you can get on a VW engine.
