That looks like a newer unit, how much do those run (USD)?

I was thinking of a older unit exactly like the one that comes in a 73 Thing. I have seen them for around $150, so i would think it would cost me about $200- 250 all said and done.

I can mount one above the gas tank no problem it seams, i mocked one up today kinda.
But is is safe so close to the gas tank even with insulation between the heater/ exhaust and the tank(sheet metal and insulation)

How hot do the exhaust pipes get with these things?

Also, the newer unit you have looks way smaller, what are the dimentions of yours?
