The idler arm and steering box are different, tie rods etc would be the same, I have a steering box and idler arm in my shed. There is a good forum to visit that is aussie based

I think the biggest hassle would be the cost of shipping, our $ is piss weak so that would be an advantage.
I coluld hook you up with a few local VW shops if you want.
